Gallery Hyundai

Just outside the Gyeongbokgung Palace walls, lies a strip of striking, concrete-and-glass buildings, where visitors can see cutting-edge art by renowed Korean and Western artists.

GALLERY HYUNDAI is the first gallery in Korea to open as the Hyundai Hwarang (Gallery) in Insadong, Jongno-gu in April, 1970. For over 40 years, the gallery has displayed pieces by established Korean artists. Through various high quality exhibitions, GALLERY HYUNDAI presents not only Korea's most prominent contemporary artists, but also introduces various, international artists.

Dugahun Gallery is a traditional tiled-roof wine house and restaurant with the meaning: 'Very Beautiful House'. The combination of art culture and wine gives the house a unique space.

GALLERY HYUNDAI also support young artists, giving them an opportunity to launch their careers within the commercial art world.

After visiting Gallery Hyundai, stop for lunch at the European-style Dugahun, which is located behind the art space, in a hanok dating back to the early 1900's.
